Frolic Meadow Farm was purchased and created in 2004. Both Tia and Dave were agricultural educators in Bradford County at the time. Since 2002, Dave had been teaching and now continues to teach agricultural education at Athens Area High School. Tia was the 4-H educator in Bradford county as well. We have deep roots in agriculture as both of us grew up on dairy farms. Tia in Franklin County and Dave in Tioga County, PA.
As our farm grew and improved, so did our family. Abram and Graham continue to follow in our footsteps. They both are in 4-H and have shown dairy, swine and sheep. In addition to these projects, we also raise black angus beef cattle and chickens. This has led to us being able to offer local, high quality custom raised pork and beef that we sell from the farm.
We began tapping a few maple trees in 2012. Starting with 10 taps, we boiled on a small 2x4 pan with a homemade firebox that was acquired from a student of Dave's who had a maple project for FFA. In 2013 we had 15 taps and by 2015 had near 100 taps. In 2016 we began construction of a new sugar house, purchased a 3x12 evaporator and had put out 2000 taps. We work very closely with local neighbors and friends to ensure we take care of the property and trees we use for maple production to ensure a top quality, all natural product.
We take pride in sharing the story of agriculture and educating our community. Our local farms and communities have a lot to offer. We thank you for supporting our farm!
